Reports

The Office of the Ombudsman produces two types of reports: annual and special.

Annual Reports provide an overview of all of the office’s operations for each fiscal year. They highlight the important work that the Ombudsman and his staff have undertaken to help Canadian Forces members, Defence employees and their family members resolve concerns related to the Department and the Canadian Forces.

Special Reports are one way in which the Ombudsman reports publicly on significant matters affecting the welfare of the Defence community. For every systemic investigation that the office undertakes, the Ombudsman submits a special report to the Minister of National Defence, in which he summarizes the findings of the investigation and makes recommendations to improve the situation.

Previous special reports from the office have led to substantial and long-lasting improvements in the Canadian Forces, including important changes in the areas of post-traumatic stress disorder and operational stress injuries and improvements in the treatment received by the families of military members who are killed in the course of their duties.
