Message from the Ombudsman (February 21, 2012)

New Online Section Created and Dedicated Solely to Outreach Activities and Events

I am pleased to inform all members of Canada's Defence community and other visitors to our website that we have created a new online section dedicated solely to our outreach activities and events.

Over the past couple of years, we have focused on enhancing the overall awareness and understanding of our role and mandate within the Defence community; making our services more readily available to Canadian Forces members, military families, civilian employees of National Defence, and other constituents; and gathering a better understanding of the issues and challenges facing members of the Defence community.

In order to achieve these objectives, we visit a number of Canadian Forces installations across the country; engage constituents at military and departmental events; foster relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders; and reach out to like-minded organizations in Canada and around the world.

The new Outreach section will track all of these activities - from the local community meeting to the large international conference - as part of our commitment to openness and transparency, as well as to give constituents, stakeholders and like-minded organizations an even greater opportunity to connect with us.

If you would like someone from the Ombudsman's office to speak to your group/organization, I encourage you to contact us by e-mail or phone (1-888-828-3626). We would be pleased to meet with you and your colleagues.
