Ombudsman Invites Members of Canada’s Defence Community to Annual Awards Ceremony

I would like to take the opportunity to invite all members of Canada’s Defence community to our thirteenth annual commendations ceremony in Ottawa, where we will be presenting four extraordinary individuals with the Liz Hoffman Memorial Commendation.

Liz Hoffman was an investigator with our Office who had a deeply rooted sense of fairness and was a tremendous force for positive change. This commendation allows us to recognize those in the Defence community who, like Liz, are dedicated to helping others and making a difference.

This year’s recipients – Major Michel Chauvette, Major Heather Collins, Captain Donald Lamb and Captain Sundus Shamsi – have truly gone the extra mile in helping their colleagues resolve a problem or in bringing about significant and lasting change at National Defence and/or the Canadian Armed Forces.

Our commendations ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at 10:00 a.m in the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess in Ottawa, Ontario (4 Queen Elizabeth Drive). I hope everyone will consider joining us to recognize the outstanding achievements of four members of our Defence community.

Please inform Ms. Dominique Perreault ( if you plan to attend.
