Dear Mr. Thompson:

I am writing to follow up on my recent visit to 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown from 5-9 February 2018. I would like to extend thanks to Ms. Ann Macoomb and her staff for taking the time to meet with us and discuss issues surrounding Canadian Forces Housing. My team and I were very impressed by the level of professionalism and pride that her team took in their daily work.

During this visit, my staff and I met with military personnel, military family members, DND civilian employees, and Non-Public Funds / Personnel Support Program employees. The feedback that we received during these engagements helped to provide a picture of what is working well on the base and which areas have room for improvement.

When meeting with your staff I was glad to hear of the diligent work of your organization to eliminate wait times for housing as well as conducting sizeable renovations to housing units. Also of note is the general responsiveness of your staff in the case of emergency housing issues.

While my office still deals with complaints across the country dealing with CFHA housing, we are able to seek resolution at the lowest possible level and we have a great working relationship with the Agency. Rest assured, should any issues arise with housing that falls under your purview our office will engage your very professional staff to resolve the issue.

In closing, should you or any member of your team require assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out. Should you have any important announcements or information campaigns that you wish to push out to a wider audience, my communications team is available to help promote material via our web and social media platforms.

Thank you once again, and please extend my congratulations to your team.

Sincerely,

Gary Walbourne
Ombudsman
