Dear General Vance,

I thank you for your letter dated 8 May 2018.  In my letter of 15 February 2018, I had identified concerns related to the completion and timeliness of workplace health inspections in Canadian Armed Forces-controlled workshops.

I have reviewed your response and would like additional information specific to the following areas:

  • The mitigation measures being developed by CF H Scvs Gp to address the shortage of qualified technicians in the Preventive Medicine Technician occupation;
  • The additional course offered at Canadian Forces Health Services Training Center in Borden;
  • The hiring of additional civilian technicians at some Preventive Medicine Technician offices; and
  • The overall improvements to the completion rates of monthly workplace health inspections (including how many of the 1,108 identified workshops have a current inspection at last count).

I would appreciate if you could provide me with a working-level contact that my Office could communicate with directly, in order to continue this conversation in more detail.

Sincerely,

Gary Walbourne
Ombudsman
