Chief of the Defence Staff

Dear General Lawson:

In the summer of 2013, my predecessor briefed you on a report entitled On the Homefront: Assessing the Well-being of Canada's Military Families in the New Millennium. In that report, our office made 18 recommendations to the Canadian Armed Forces to improve the lives and welfare of military families to which you kindly provided some written commentary regarding our recommendations. That report was then released publically in November 2013.

As a matter of corporate practice, my office benchmarks progress on our recommendations on a regular basis. Understanding that there has been some movement since the release of the report; I am writing to determine if an official action plan has been established, and, if an update to our recommendations could be provided.

Sincerely,

Gary Walbourne
Ombudsman
