Ombudsman's Commendation for Complaint Resolution - 2003 Winners
In recognition of exceptional skill in resolving complaints, thereby contributing to the well-being of the DND/CF community, Commander Barry Saladana and Captain Beverley Ennis are awarded the Commendation for Complaint Resolution of the Ombudsman for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces.
Cdr Saladana and Capt Ennis have contributed to the resolution of several protracted disputes and extended a significant and consistent level of cooperation to the Office of the Ombudsman. In addition to being dedicated supporters of the Office, they regularly make the extra effort to meet with cadets and their parents to resolve problems, even under tense and difficult conditions.
As a team, they have taken the initiative to move beyond resolving the immediate issue by setting a precedent to ensure that similar problems are avoided. They have integrated lessons learned into training and orientation, brought the issues forward in their discussions with other leaders, and revised policies to provide clear, well-organized guidance that will likely prove invaluable to others facing similar problems in the future.
The Ombudsman for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces salutes and commends Cdr Saladana’s and Capt Ennis’s exemplary initiative and commitment.
